DO YOU OPERATE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER?
Yes. All trains operate rain or shine. However, we may cancel operations if severe weather, such as a blizzard, hurricane, tornado, etc., presents a danger to our crew and passengers. In these rare cases, we will post a notice on the homepage of this website and on our office telephone line stating that we have cancelled operations.
CAN I EAT OR DRINK ON THE TRAIN?
Yes. You can bring food and drink on the train. You can also purchase hot dogs, drinks and snacks at our snack bar inside Greenbank Station.
CAN I SMOKE ON THE TRAIN?
No. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the train, in the station or in the Red Clay Valley Visitor's Center.
ARE THERE RESTROOMS ON THE TRAIN?
Yes. There are restrooms on each of our coaches and cabooses. There are no restrooms at the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove.
IS THE TRAIN CLIMATE-CONTROLLED?
During the colder months, our coaches are heated with steam from the locomotive and our cabooses have heaters. However, none of our cars are air-conditioned but coach and caboose windows do open to provide fresh air on warmer days.
ARE THE TRAINS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE?
We have limited accessibility for handicapped persons. All buildings have wheelchair ramps and we have a wheelchair lift to board the train. However, train doorways are only 24 inches wide and there is not much room for wheelchair storage on the train. Also, there is no wheelchair lift available at our Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove or in Hockessin.
DO YOU OFFER LOCOMOTIVE CAB RIDES?
Yes. You must make advanced reservations to ride in the cab of our diesel or steam locomotive. The cab rider must be at least 18 years of age and must sign a liability release prior to the ride. There is a premium charge to ride in the cab. Call our Business Office for details.
WHEN DOES THE 12:30 TRAIN DEPART?
Like all forms of scheduled transportation, our trains leave on time, so the 12:30 train actually departs at 12:30! It is important that you arrive in plenty of time so you're not disappointed when you miss the train. We begin boarding the train 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
